Jagannath Puri Temple was constructed by King Chodaganga. The king Chodaganga started the construction in ganga dynasty. Jaga mohan or the assembly hall and Vimana or chariot of the temple were constructed during his reign. After him, Anangabhima Deva completed the construction of the temple in 1174AD.

The Flag Mystery


Every day a priests climbs at the top of the temple, which is almost 45 storey tall building, to change the flag. This ritual has been in place for 1800 years. It is believed that if this ritual is ever missed, the temple will remain shut for the next 18 years.


The Prasad Mystery


Depending on the day, records state that 2,000 to 20,000 devotees visit the temple. The quantity of Prasad is equal everyday. Yet nothing get wasted and also it is sufficient for everyone.
